Charles Jacquot
Violin maker
(1804 – 1880)
Mirecourt-born violin maker Charles Jacquot first apprenticed in his hometown with Didier Nicolas in 1819 before moving to Nancy in 1823. In 1827 he set up his own business there and married the sister of J.B. Vuillaume. After working in Nancy for 25 years, Jacquot left the business to his son Pierre Charles and moved to Paris, where he was instrumental in founding the museum of the Paris Conservatoire. His work consists of violins, violas, and cellos on Stradivari, Guarneri, and Maggini models, and displays excellent craftsmanship.
