Made 60 violins, 15 violas and 25 \u2019cellos up to year 1942. Won gold medal for Quartet, 1937.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Simone Fernando Sacconi<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>fece in New York anno 1947<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>(S.F.S. in circle)<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Simone Fernando Sacconi<\/p>\n\n\n\n<hr class=\"wp-block-separator\"\/>\n\n\n\n<p>                                     Violin maker<br>                                     (1895 \u2013 1974)<br>                                                                     <br> Simone Fernando Sacconi became an assistant in the workshop of  <a href=\"https:\/\/tarisio.com\/cozio-archive\/browse-the-archive\/makers\/maker\/?Maker_ID=627\">Giuseppe Rossi<\/a>  while he was still a schoolboy, and had attracted his own clients by  the age of 16. His tremendous skills as a copyist, particularly of <a href=\"https:\/\/tarisio.com\/cozio-archive\/browse-the-archive\/makers\/maker\/?Maker_ID=722\">Stradivari<\/a> and <a href=\"https:\/\/tarisio.com\/cozio-archive\/browse-the-archive\/makers\/maker\/?Maker_ID=240\">Guarneri<\/a>, were evident from a very young age.<br><br>In  1931 Sacconi moved from Rome to New York to work for Emil Hermann,  where he developed a reputation as one of the finest restoration artists  in the history of violin making. He continued to make some bows and  instruments, which bear a varnish unsurpassed in its similarity to the  work of classical makers. <br><br>Sacconi and his pupil <a href=\"https:\/\/tarisio.com\/cozio-archive\/browse-the-archive\/makers\/maker\/?Maker_ID=1795\">Dario D&#8217;Attili<\/a>  left in 1951 to join the firm of Rembert Wurlitzer, where Sacconi  continued his outstanding restoration and repair work, serving the great  artists of his time. In addition to being a remarkable conservator of  fine instruments, Sacconi was a gifted teacher who trained some of the  finest American violin makers, repairers, and experts. <br><br>Sacconi  eventually left Wurlitzer and spent his last years in Cremona  researching and preparing the book that established him as the  definitive expert on Stradivari&#8217;s working methods, <em>The Secrets of Stradivari<\/em>.
