Son and student of Carlo Carletti, Natale Carletti took over his father’s workshop in Pieve di Cento in 1941. His output was impressive, consisting of virtually every kind of stringed instrument except guitars, and includes about 200 cellos. The period from 1945-1968 represents his peak as a craftsman. Stradivari is the most common inspiration, and the workmanship is precise but not affected, with deeply carved scrolls and full archings. Varnish is of a mixed composition, ranging from red to golden yellow, and labels are often signed.\u00a0<\/p>\n\n\n\n
